If you think about it, this is a very good question when it comes to trusting and following God. For most of us when we think of “love” in relation to God, it’s God loves us, because of His love he died for us, and we should love God for all He has done for us. Now don’t get me wrong, this is very true, but if this “love” is such a grand thing that God has gone to great extents for us based on this “love” then why is there so much dissension, bitterness, and down right prejudice...

I’m sure we have all seen the cartoons where the evil villain has the power to use his “brain waves” and capturing innocent characters and getting them to do silly things. I remember when I was a child wishing for this power. The power to just get in someone else head and see what they are thinking, and getting them to do what I want them to do. If you were to go to the nearest mall and were to ask people what does “faith” mean? I am sure you would get several different answers, but the most common one will be “it means to believe”. Well, yes, that is definitely part of the equation. There is more to faith than just “believing”.

I am sure you have heard people around you (and probably yourself as well) say, “I hope I get the job” or “I hope they are ok” or really any iteration of the statement. Hope is a grand thing, in fact hope is the one thing that can nudge us to make positive steps in difficult situations.
The problem with this is that God has called us to be strong in faith, not hope.
